Why are Vermont Farms so Special? Because we are core to the Vermont image of rolling hills, meadows, mountains, forests, farm animals and wildlife, valleys with country roads winding through it all. We welcome visitors and provide a memorable experience, an opportunity to remember traditions and origins and rebuild them in our present life. Contact our coordinator or farms directly for great ideas for stories about life, adventure, and simplicity, come visit yourself to experience first-hand the natural inter-relation of farmer, farm land and nature's flora and fauna, during farm busy season and in the times called off-season. We are here and most farms welcome visitors year round.
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall - We have it all! Maybe the city never sleeps, and, nature doesnât sleep either. Unlike other traditional tourism economies, Vermont Farms are never "out of season". Let the adventure begin...and may it never end! Bring nature home to your audience with the following four season adventure sampling:
Winter: Christmas trees, sleigh rides, sledding, tubing, snowmobiling, skating and ice fishing Spring: Maple sugaring, lambing and other baby animals, birding, apple blossoms, greenhouses, and sheep shearing. Summer: Agricultural fairs and "field days," corn mazes, sunflower mazes, hay rides, llama hiking, pick-your-own-berries. Fall: Apple picking, cider pressing, grape harvests, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, harvest festivals.
STORY IDEAS: The New Farm Experience Family Fun on the farm - from the animals, to products, a memorable, enjoyable experience. Getaways for couples - relaxing in the country, outdoor activities, romance Back to the basics - with such a variety of farms - there is something for everyone.
The Vermont Farms Association (VFA) is an organization of farmers who offer diverse on-farm educational experiences. VFA is nearly a decade old, boasting approximately 75 members statewide. VFA members are located throughout Vermont in many rural locations. Agritourism helps maintain job opportunities and viable communities, and supports the spirit of the region by stimulating tourism and a sense of community. The VFA is managed by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce.
